High School: Mendoza earned three letters in football, two in wrestling, and one in track for W.B. Ray High School. In 2016, Mendoza placed fifth at the Texas State Wrestling Tournament.

Personal: Mendoza is the son of Arnold and Lynn Mendoza and plans to major in biology. He is also a member of the OU football team.
