OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University baseball team started its four game series with Saint Ambrose University with a double header sweep on Saturday afternoon. The Braves won game one, 6-5, in nine innings and game two, 4-2.
Game One
The Braves struck first, taking the early lead in the bottom of the first inning.
Tyler Farnham reached first with a single to center. He then swiped second, giving the Braves a runner on second.
Pedro Astacio was hit by a pitch and OU had runners on first and second with
Cole Broughton up to bat.
Broughton came through with a runner in scoring position, his double to right scored Farnham. Astacio crossed home on the throw and OU had a 2-0 lead.
The Fighting Bees cut into OU's lead with a run in the top of the fourth, 2-1. The Braves pushed two more runs across in the bottom of the fifth.
Zachary Spradlin led the inning off with a home run to left field, giving OU a 3-1 lead. Broughton increased the Brave lead with a sacrifice fly and the Braves led 4-1.
In the top of the sixth, SAU scored three runs to tie the game 4-4. That is where the score stayed until the top of the ninth when Saint Ambrose took its first lead of the game with a home run, 5-4.
Ottawa rallied in the bottom of the ninth. With Farnham on first, Broughton hit a walk off home run over the center field wall and OU took the 6-4 victory.

Game Two
Ottawa struck first, taking the early lead in the bottom of the second inning. Lukas Rick singled to left, bringing in
Alex Kuhn as a courtesy runner for the Brave catcher. Luis Deleon was hit by a pitch and OU had runners on first and second.
Kuhn then moved 90 feet from home after advancing to third on a passed ball. Kuhn scored on an error by the SAU shortstop, giving OU a 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the third, Ottawa extended its lead.
Tyler Farnham led off the inning with a home run to left and the Braves led 2-0.
Ottawa increased its lead over the Fighting Bees in the bottom of the fourth. Deleon singled to left to lead off OU's bottom half of the fourth. He then stole second and moved to third on a SAU error. A wild pitch scored Deleon and Ottawa led 3-0.
OU extended its lead over SAU in the bottom of the sixth. Rich reached first on a walk and Kuhn entered the game as a courtesy runner. An error by the SAU pitcher moved Kuhn to third. Another error by the Fighting Bees scored Kuhn to give OU a 4-0 lead.
SAU tried to stage a comeback, but
Cameron Sistrunk entered the game and struck out the final two Fighting Bees to give OU a 4-2 victory.
