Baseball Travels to (RV) Kansas Wesleyan

Ottawa has won nine straight after defeating Avila University 13-3 at The Z on Tuesday afternoon. Reigning KCAC Player of the Week, Zachary Spradlin, continued his hot hitting. He went 4-for-5 at the plate, scoring three runs and driving in two. Jonah Weisner had three hits in five at bats, driving in two runs and scoring one. Robby Williams led the Braves with three RBI. Nolan Maldonado pitched in four innings, striking out three. Matt Nolan earned the win, striking out three in three innings and only allowing one hit.

During OU's nine game winning streak, the Braves are hitting .301, averaging 7.1 runs per game, have hit eight home runs, have a .472 slugging percentage, a .387 on base percentage, and have stolen 15 bases. Zachary Spradlin is swinging a hot bat in the last nine games. He is hitting .581, has a .839 slugging percentage, has walked six times, hit by a pitch twice, only struck out twice, and has a .667 on base percentage. The OU pitching staff has a 2.49 ERA, striking out 64 in 76 innings. Opponents are hitting .208 against the Braves.

Zachary Spradlin leads the Braves in batting average (.404) and Cole Broughton leads OU in RBI (43). Tyler Bryant is OU's leader in ERA (2.31) and strike outs (69).

For the second straight week, Ryan Olchoway was named KCAC Pitcher of the Week for his efforts in OU's win over no. 20 McPherson College on Saturday afternoon. He pitched seven innings, striking out nine, only allowed one hit, and had a 0.00 ERA. The Bulldogs hit .045 against Olchoway. Zachary Spradlin was named KCAC Player of the Week. He hit .750 (9-for-12) in four games last week. Spradlin scored nine runs, hit two doubles, drove in a run, had a .917 slugging percentage, walked three times, was hit by a pitch once, did not strike out, had a .813 on base percentage, and had two stolen bases.

Ottawa has a record of 67-68 against Kansas Wesleyan University. The Braves won the regular season series against the Coyotes last season, 3-0 in Ottawa. KWU, however, defeated the Braves 6-4 in the KCAC Tournament last season. OU is 4-1 against KWU in the last five meetings. The first ever meeting between the two teams happened on April 24, 1902 in Salina. Ottawa won the game, 11-5.

Through 40 games this season, Ottawa is hitting .300, has a .390 on base percentage, and a .479 slugging percentage. The Braves have hit 38 home runs and scored 271 runs.

Kansas Wesleyan University is 31-9 overall, has a record of 19-4 in the KCAC, is on a 12 game winning streak, is 25-2 at home this season, and is receiving votes in the NAIA Baseball Coaches Top 25 Poll. The Coyotes last loss came on March 19 at McPherson College. MC won all three games of the series: 6-1, 7-5, 17-11.

Jarrett Gable leads KWU in batting average (.396) and RBI (55). Nathan Righi is the Coyotes' leader in ERA (3.24) and strike outs (74).

Through 40 games this season, Kansas Wesleyan has a .323 batting average, a .446 on base percentage, and a .597 slugging percentage. The Coyotes have hit 85 home runs and scored 376 runs.
