OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University baseball team ended the regular season with an 11-8 loss to Bethany College on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Park. OU took the series against Bethany, 2-1.
The Braves struck first, taking the early lead in the top of the first inning. 
Zachary Spradlin reached first on a fielder's choice and then advanced to second on a throwing error by the Swede second baseman. 
Jonah Weisner singled to right-center, scoring Spradlin to give the Braves a 1-0 lead. Weisner stole second and then swiped third. The throw to third by the BC catcher was wild and Weisner scored, increasing the OU lead to 2-0.
Bethany tied the game with two runs in the top of the second, 2-2 and then took the lead, 4-2 with two more runs in the top of the third. The Braves answered in the bottom of the third.
Cole Broughton reached first on an error by the BC second baseman. Spradlin singled up the middle and Weisner hit an infield single to load the bases. 
Pedro Astacio hit a single to center, scoring Broughton and Spradlin to tie the game, 4-4. The Braves loaded the bases once more with a walk by 
Gabe Eckstaine. 
Brandon Kelley walked, scoring Weisner and Ottawa retook the lead, 5-4.
The Swedes responded with five runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to take a 10-5 lead over OU. In the eighth inning, Bethany scored one more run to increase its lead to 11-5. Ottawa cut into the Bethany lead with three runs in the bottom of the eighth.
Connor Jeffers led off the bottom of the eighth with a walk. Jeffers then moved to second on a fly out to center by 
Robby Williams. 
Liam Vulcano's ground out to second put Jeffers on third. A wild pitch by the Swedes scored Jeffers and Ottawa was down 11-6. 
Tyler Farnham walked and Broughton hit his 17
th home run of the season to put OU within, 11-8.
In the bottom of the ninth, Weisner and 
Lukas Rich reached safely with a singles but OU was not able to score the two Braves and Bethany took the 11-8 victory.
