Five Named to the 2023 Academic All-District® Women’s At-Large Teams

OTTAWA, Kan. - The 2023 Academic All-District® Women's At-Large Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the athletic realm and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 22.

Ottawa University had five named to the 2023 Academic All-District Women's At-Large Teams, Cecily Anderson (Women's Lacrosse), Kaitlyn George (Women's Bowling), Gabriella Hernandez (Women's Bowling), Rebekah Loker (Women's Bowling), Derraine Morrison (Women's Wrestling).

Anderson, a junior attacker from Keller, Texas, was named First Team All-KCAC and earned NAIA Attacker of the Week honors in 2023 for the OU women's lacrosse team. She became the program's all-time leader in points in Ottawa's victory over the University of Saint Mary on April 14. Anderson played and started in 13 games. She scored 53 goals and had 28 assists for a team high 81 points. Anderson took 114 shots, had a shot percentage of .465, took 72 shots on goal, had three game winning goals, tallied 16 ground balls, and finished with 11 draw controls. She is an elementary education major.

Hernandez, a junior from Palm Coast, Fla., earned Second Team All-KCAC honors in 2023 for the OU women's bowling team. She played in nine events, five Tier 1 and four Tier 2. Hernandez had an overall average of 180.806 for the season. She had one top 25 finish, playing 15th at the Wildcat Challenge. Hernandez had a season's best average of 189.167 at the Collegiate Shoot-Out. She is an applied psychology major.

Loker, a senior from Woodstock, Ontario, Canada, was a First Team All-KCAC selection in 2023 for the OU women's bowling team. She played in four Tier 1 events and three Tier 2 events. Loker had a season average of 181.917 and a season's best average of 195.667 at the Collegiate Shoot-Out. She had an average of 182.773 in Tier 1 events and an average of 180.571 in Tier 2 events. Loker is a biology major.

George, a graduate student from Arlington, Texas, was named First Team All-KCAC in 2023 for the OU women's bowling team. She had a season average of 181.917, playing in four Tier 1 events and three Tier 2 events. George had an average of 182.773 in Tier 1 events and an average of 180.571 in Tier 2 events. She had a season's best average of 193.167 at the Leatherneck Classic. George is earning her masters of arts in education.

Morrison, a junior from Houston, Texas, had an overall record of 11-12 for the OU women's wrestling team. She had a dual mark of 5-1 and six falls and three technical falls. Morrison is tied for eighth in the OU record book in wins by a junior (11), fourth in single season wins by weight in the 136 pound weight class (9). She is majoring in exercise science.

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2022-23 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA national office.
