OTTAWA, Kan. – The #10 Ottawa University women's wrestling team will head to the Eagle Duals on Friday, December 13
th in Kansas City, Mo.
The Braves had an impressive showing at the Doane Open on December 7
th.
Almarwa Alkhalil and
Alsafa Alkhalil both won one match in the 103lb weight division.
Aynsley Fink took down three opponents in the 110lb weight division, wins on a fall, technical fall and a decision.
Jazmin Haller won one match on a fall in the 117lb weight class.
Peyton Hand took home second place in the 124lb weight division, Hand went 5-1 in her matches and won four of them by falls.
Addison Saporito won four matches in the 124lb weight division. In the 131lb weight class,
Camryn Mather took down two opponents and
Lainey Farley won one match.
Livia Swift went 4-2 in the 138lb weight division, winning three of the matches by falls.
Kaydence Bonewell and
Leilani Caamal each won two matches in the 145lb weight class.
Darby Weidl secured first place in the 160lb weight division, she won all six of her matches and won the first place match on a fall in 53 seconds.
Abigail Sebesta,
GiGi Jones and
Haley Flores also won matches in the 160lb weight class, Sebesta and Jones picked up two wins and Flores had one.
Kaylee Davis earned third place in the 180lb weight division, Davis defeated four opponents by falls.
Ciera Hutton-Spieker had five wins and
Siara Arrington had three in the 180lb as well.
Hannah Jackson competed in the 207lb weight class and came in third place, Jackson won six matches to take home third.
Ottawa moves up to the Top 10 and are ranked tenth in the third NAIA Top 20 Poll.
Kendall Martin moves up two spots to be ranked 15
th in the 117lb weight class.
Peyton Hand is 13
th in the 124lb weight division,
Livia Swift is 13
th in the 138lb weight division,
Leilani Caamal comes into the rankings at #16 in the 145lb weight class and
Kaydence Bonewell is 19
th in the 145lb weight division as well.
Darby Weidl jumps up to fifth in the 160lb weight class.
Kaylee Davis moves up four spots in the 180lb to tenth and
Ciera Hutton-Spieker is 16
th in the 180lb weight division.
Hannah Jackson is fourth and
Kena Leonard is 11
th in the 207lb weight class.
In 2023, Ottawa defeated Baker at the Eagle Duals, 36-22.
Erin Wetterstrom won by forfeit in the 101lb weight division.
Daityn Webb also won by forfeit in the 109lb weight class.
Emma Truex defeated her opponent by fall in the 123lb weight division. In the 130lb weight division,
Peyton Hand won by fall over Zoe Shariq.
Kaydence Bonewell won by forfeit in the 143lb weight division.
Randie Scoon picked up the win against Reagan Wonnell by a fall in the 155lb weight class.
This will be the last competition of the first part of the 2024-25 season for the Braves. They will return to action in 2025 on January 9
th at York University in York, Nebraska.
