(17) Softball Travels to Columbia on Wednesday

Ottawa finished its Texas trip with a record of 2-2. The Braves split both double headers against Texas Wesleyan University and UT Dallas. OU fell in game one to TWU, 6-5, but took game two, 8-1. They defeated UT Dallas 2-1 in game one but fell in game two, 5-3.

The Braves finished its four games in Texas with a .272 batting average. OU scored 18 runs, hit five doubles, one triple, two home runs, drove in 17 runs, had a .386 slugging percentage, walked 15 times, had a .359 on base percentage, and stole nine bases.

This season, Ottawa has a .335 batting average, a .410 on base percentage, and a .494 slugging percentage. OU has hit six home runs and scored 88 runs.

The Braves are ranked 13th in the NAIA in at bats (316), fourth in runs (88), 10th in hits (106), 16th in doubles (18), third in triples (7), 17th in home runs (6), first in RBI (83), seventh in extra base hits (31), eighth in total bases (158), 13th in walks (39), 34th in hit by pitch (5), third in sacrifice flies (6), 14th in stolen bases (24), 46th in batting average (.335), 49th in on base percentage (.410), 35th in slugging percentage (.494), and 49th in ERA (1.87).

Katie Enneking leads the Braves in batting average (.389) and RBI (17). Ashlynn Mercer is OU's leader in ERA (1.00) and strike outs (18).

In OU's four road games this season, they are hitting .272 and scoring 4.5 runs per game. Opponents have a .290 batting average against the OU pitching staff.

Ottawa has a record of 1-2 against Columbia College. Wednesday's double header will be the first time that the two teams have played against each other in Columbia. The Braves and Cougars split last season's double header at Alumni Park. Ottawa fell in game one, 4-1 but took game two in six innings, 10-1. The first time the two teams played against each other was on May 27, 2017 at the NAIA World Series in Clermont, Fla. Columbia won the game in eight innings, 2-1.

Columbia College has opened the season with a record of 0-4. They played in the Spring 2024 Kansas City NAIA Softball Invite. The Cougars fell 13-5 to no. 11 Baker, 8-0 to Park, 4-3 to Saint Mary of the Woods, and 15-7 to Evangel.

This season, Columbia has a .239 batting average, a .358 on base percentage, and a .386 slugging percentage. The Cougars have hit four home runs and scored 15 runs.

CC is ranked 28th in the NAIA in home runs (4).

Suzanna Shanks lead Columbia in batting average (.500). Wendy van Wijk, Tasia Green, and Shanks have three RBI apiece. Kathryn Guinn leads CC in ERA (7.41) and Jazlin Gottman is the team's leader in strike outs (6).
