(17) Softball Travels to Wichita for the Friends Tournament this Weekend

The Braves split its double header with Missouri Valley College on Tuesday afternoon at Alumni Park. Missouri Valley College was 3-2 in eight innings in game one. The Braves rebounded to take game two, 12-11, in eight innings.

This season, Ottawa has a .326 batting average, a .407 on base percentage, and a .458 slugging percentage. OU has hit six home runs and scored 121 runs.

Katie Enneking, through 18 games, leads the Braves in batting average (.423) and RBI (22). Ashlynn Mercer is OU's leader in ERA (1.35) and strike outs (26).

Friday is the second meeting between Ottawa University and Saint Ambrose University. Ottawa leads the series, 1-0. The first game took place on March 9, 2018 at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Ga. OU won the game in eight innings, 3-2. This is the first time that Ottawa and Cottey have played against each other. Saturday will be just the second time that Ottawa and Southwestern Christian University have played against each other. The Braves lead the series 1-0. The first game between the two teams was on March 2, 2018 at the Friends Tournament in Wichita, Kan. OU won the game in five innings, 18-5. Ottawa has a record of 7-3 against Midland University. The Braves are on a two game winning streak against the Warriors. The last time the two teams played was on May 17-May 18, 2021 in Oklahoma City, Okla. in the NAIA Opening Round. OU defeated Midland 11-9 on May 17 and then captured the NAIA Opening Round Championship with an 11-1 win in six innings on May 18.

Saint Ambrose University has a record of 8-4 and enters the Friends Tournament coming off an 8-6 win over Mount Mercy on Feb. 25. SAU has a .246 batting average, a .318 on base percentage, and a .322 slugging percentage. The Fighting Bees have hit two home runs and scored 42 runs. Through 12 games this season, Alyssa Schumacher leads the team in batting average (.405) and RBI (11). Leah Maro leads SAU in ERA (0.36) and strike outs (23)

Cottey College has a record of 6-7 this season and enters the Friends Tournament coming off a double header split with Kansas Wesleyan University on Feb. 27. KWU won game one, 2-1 but CC took game two, 10-0. Comet head coach Rebekah (Clinton) Klinginsmith, was an All-KCAC pitcher as a member of the OU softball team in 2018.

This season, Cottey has a .335 batting average, a .425 on base percentage, and a .509 slugging percentage. They have hit 14 runs, and scored 69 runs. Through 11 games this season, Jenna Wilson leads the Comets in batting average (.458), Elizabeth Thomas is the team's leader in RBI (13), Alyssa Montoya leads CC in ERA (3.65), and Amelia Gassman leads Cottey in strike outs (19).

Southwestern Christian University has an overall record of 7-4, they are 4-0 in the SAC, are on a six game winning streak, and enter the Friends University Tournament coming off a four game sweep of Langston University on Feb. 23 and Feb. 24. This season the Eagles have a .350 batting average, a .423 on base percentage, and a .481 slugging percentage. SWC has hit three home runs, and scored 71 runs.

Hannah Keele leads the team in batting average (.500), Holly Elam is SWC's leader in RBI (11), and Harli Clem is Southwestern's leader in ERA (2.72) and strike outs (19).

Midland University has a record of 9-2, is on a two game winning streak, is ranked no. 10 in the NAIA, and enters the Friends Tournament coming off a 6-1 win over Missouri Valley College on Feb. 19. The Warriors have a .341 batting average, a .429 on base percentage, and a .510 slugging percentage. Midland has hit 10 home runs, and scored 79 runs.

Through 11 games this season, Amanda Schmaderer leads Midland in batting average (.548) and RBI (13). Aliyah Rincon is the team's leader in ERA (1.68) and strike outs (44).
