(17) Softball Hosts Haskell at Alumni Park on Tuesday

Ottawa opened the 2024 season with a sweep of Hastings College last Friday at Alumni Park. The Braves won game one 6-1 and took game two 6-0. The Braves finished the double header hitting .370 (20-for-54), scoring 12 runs, finishing with 12 RBI, hitting one double and three triples, they had a .500 slugging percentage, and a .433 on base percentage.

In the win over Hastings in game two, Takiya Hill and Loralei Gilbert combined for a no hitter in game two and were one walk away from having a combined perfect game. This was the second combined no hitter in program history. Amber Flummerfelt and Kelcie Kippes combined for a no hitter on March 25, 2022 in an 8-0 win over Iowa Wesleyan University.

This season Ottawa has a .370 batting average, a .433 on base percentage, and a .500 slugging percentage. OU has also scored 12 runs.

The Braves are ranked 41st in the NAIA in at bats (54), 34th in runs (12), 33rd in hits (20), 44th in doubles (1), first in triples (3), 28th in RBI (12), 32nd in extra base hits (4), 33rd in total bases (27), 11th in hit by pitch (2), 10th in strike outs (5), 28th in sacrifice hits (1), 27th in stolen bases (5), 14th in batting average (.370), 16th in on base percentage (.433), 16th in slugging percentage (.500), fifth in shut outs (1), and second in opponent batting average (.091).

Katie Enneking leads OU in batting average (.600) and RBI (5). Takiya Hill leads the Braves in ERA (0.00) and Ashlynn Mercer is Ottawa's leader in strike outs (5).

Ottawa has a record of 26-2 against Haskell Indian Nations University. The Braves are on a 23 game winning streak against HINU. The last time OU fell to Haskell was on a double header on April 14, 2004 in Lawrence. The Indians won game one, 6-4, and game two, 10-1. The Braves have not lost to Haskell in Ottawa and have a record of 10-0 at home against HINU.

Haskell Indian Nations University finished the 2023 season with an overall record of 8-24 and a CAC mark of 4-5. The Indians had a record of 4-13 on the road last season.

Last season, HINU had a .236 batting average, a .293 on base percentage, and a .305 slugging percentage. The Indians hit three home runs and scored 75 runs.

The Indians were ranked 41st in the NAIA in 2023 in strike outs (154).

Kaelyn Roberts led HINU in batting average (.467), Melody Thorne was the team's leader in RBI (10), and Justine Butterfield led the Indians in ERA (6.50) and strike outs (28).
