(RV) Softball Plays Avila in an Elimination Game at the KCAC Tournament on Thursday

Ottawa went 1-1 on day one of the KCAC Softball Tournament on Wednesday. The Braves defeated Kansas Wesleyan University in game one, 4-1, but fell 6-2 in game two to Friends University. OU will have to finish Thursday with a record of 3-0

Through 52 games this season, Ottawa has a .317 batting average, a .389 on base percentage, and a .468 slugging percentage. OU has hit 29 home runs and has scored 339 runs.

OU had six players named to the All-KCAC Teams: Ashlynn Mercer (1st), Madison Carney (1st), Reagan Hammons (1st), Nayely Delgado (2nd), Macy Roever (2nd), and Addison Spencer (3rd). Mercer was named to the KCAC Gold Glove Team.

The Braves are ranked second in the NAIA in at bats (1,412), seventh in runs (339), 13th in hits (447), 12th in doubles (87), fourth in triples (20), 27th in home runs (29), eighth in RBI (308), eighth in extra base hits (136), 10th in total bases (661), 12th in walks (152), 31st in stolen bases (95), 48th in batting average (.317), 42nd in on base percentage (.389), 31st in slugging percentage (.468), 30th in ERA (2.26), 33rd in WHIP (1.22), 20th in shut outs (12), and 25th in at bats against (1,300).

In 52 games, Addison Spencer leads the Braves in batting average (.376), Reagan Hammons is OU's leader in RBI (55), and Ashlynn Mercer leads the team in ERA (1.76) and strike outs (88).

The Braves have a record of 14-27 against Avila University. Ottawa won both games against the Eagles this season on April 3 in Kansas City, Mo. The Braves won game one, 7-2, and took game two in eight innings, 6-5. OU hit .278, had a .426 slugging percentage, walked 10 times, was hit by a pitch twice, struck out nine times, and had a .409 on base percentage.

Ottawa is 54-41 all-time at the KCAC Tournament, winning the 2021 and the 2010 Championships. Thursday's game will be the sixth time that Ottawa and Avila have played against each other in the KCAC Tournament. OU has a record of 2-3 against Avila in the KCAC Tournament. The last time the two teams met in the KCAC Tournament was on May 3, 2023. Avila won the game 4-2. Ottawa's last win over Avila in the KCAC Tournament was on May 7, 2022. OU won the game 7-4.

Avila University has an overall record of 32-20 and enters Thursday's game coming off a 4-0 win over Oklahoma Wesleyan University in a KCAC Tournament elimination game on Wednesday.

Through 52 games this season, the Eagles have a .310 batting average, a .380 on base percentage, and a .475 slugging percentage. Avila has hit 44 home runs and scored 281 runs.
