GREAT BEND, Kan. – The Ottawa University baseball team fell 5-1 to McPherson College in its first game of the KCAC Tournament on Tuesday night at the Great Bend Sports Complex.
The Braves broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Cole Broughton doubled down the right field line and then moved to third with a ground out by
Marcellus Pearson.
Blaine Thomas singled to left, scoring Broughton and OU led 1-0.
McPherson answered with three runs in the top of the fifth and two in the top of the seventh to take a 5-1 lead over the Braves.
Ottawa tried to rally in the bottom of the ninth inning. Walks by Pearson and Thomas gave OU two on with one out. The Braves were not able to push those runs across home plate and McPherson took the 5-1 victory.
