OTTAWA, KAN. - The Ottawa bowling teams have short trips this weekend as they compete at the Jayhawk Collegiate Challenge.
- The Braves began their seasons last week at the Mid-States Championships in Wichita. The men finished ninth, while the women qualified for the bracket in third. There, they fell to eventual tournament champion Newman. Kenji London finished 11th individually on the men's side, Holly Bridges and Brooklyn Peck finished 11th and 15th on the women's side.
- Ottawa has bowled at the Jayhawk Collegiate Challenge every season in program history. The men had their best finish in the spring of 2021, finishing third in the second of two Jayhawk tournaments that season. The women's best finish came in 2021, where they finished second in qualifying, and last season, when they finished second in bracket play.
- Last year, the Ottawa men qualified fourth for the matchplay bracket with a 7,844 total pinfall after five traditional and sixteen baker games. They beat Missouri Valley 2-1 in the quarterfinals before falling to eventual tournament champions Wichita State 1.5-2.5 in the semifinals.
- The Ottawa women finished second at the Jayhawk last season with a 7,309 total pinfall after five traditional and sixteen baker games. In the matchplay bracket, they fell to Columbia 1-2 in the quarterfinals. Individually, Holly Bridges made the All-Tournament team with a 976 total for five games.
- The Ottawa men rank seventh in the first NAIA RPI Ratings release, the women rank sixth.
- Darron Spak ranks third in the NAIA in traditional format frame average with a 21.74 average per frame, and ranks first in traditional format filled frame percentage at 94%. Spak also ranks tied for first in traditional format single pin spare percentage at 100%.
- Jesse Holtcamp ranks 11th in the NAIA in traditional format strike percentage at 56.7% and tied for first in baker format single pin spare percentage at 100%.
- Brooklyn Peck ranks seventh in the NAIA for overall frame average with a 19.77 average per frame, 11th in overall filled frame percentage at 84.7%, 14th in traditional format overall frame average with a 19.57 average per frame, and 13th in traditional format filled frame percentage at 85%, sixth in overall single pin spare percentage at 95.5%, and 12th in traditional format single pin spare percentage at 94.4%,.
- Holly Bridges ranks 13th in the NAIA for overall frame average with a 19.21 average per frame, first in overall filled frame percentage at 89.1%, first in traditional format filled frame percentage at 91.7%, and ninth in overall single pin spare percentage at 93.1%.
- Jayna Yockman ranks sixth in the NAIA in overall filled frame percentage at 87%, tenth in traditional format filled frame percentage at 86.7%, and tied for fith in baker format filled frame percentage at 87.5%.
- Gerilynn Delegarito ranks second in the NAIA in baker format filled frame percentage at 90.6% and tied for first in traditional format single pin spare percentage at 100%.
- Yockman, Bridges, Delegarito, and Allie Williams are all tied for first in the NAIA in baker format single pin spare percentage.
