OTTAWA, KAN. - The Ottawa bowling teams come off their first break of the season as they compete at the NAIABCA Invitational in Topeka this weekend.
- The Braves' last outing came three weeks ago at the Jayhawk Collegiate challenge. The men qualified for the bracket in eighth place with a total pinfall of 7,817. Justin Weddige led Ottawa with a 986 pinfall for five games, and they fell in the quarterfinal round of the bracket to Wichita State, 2-3. The women qualified second for their bracket with a total of 7,133. Holly Bridges finished first individually with a 977 pin total for five games. In the bracket, Ottawa beat Baker 3-0 in the quarterfinals, Lindenwood 3-1 in the semifinals, and top-seeded Central Missouri 3-1 in the Championship match to take home the title.
- This will be Ottawa's first appearance at the NAIABCA Invitational. This is just the fourth edition of the tournament, and the first that will be held outside of Louisville, Kentucky.
- The tournament format is an unusual one, which each of the first two days being separate tournaments. Those two days are combined to determine the bracket, which will be contested by the top eight teams in each division on Sunday.
