Women's Basketball and Evangel Meet in WFH on Wednesday

Ottawa is 7-2 overall and 3-2 in the KCAC. The Braves had their four game winning streak broken, falling 65-63 to Bethany College on Saturday afternoon in Hahn Gymnasium. Ottawa shot 27.5 percent from the floor and 25.6 percent from behind the 3-pt line in the loss. 

Through nine games this season, OU is averaging 81.3 points, 43.4 rebounds, and 15.8 assists per game. The Braves are shooting 42 percent from the floor, 30.7 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 72.3 percent from the free throw line. 

McKinley Kruger leads the Braves in scoring (11.7), assists (2.6), and steals (1.6). Aaliyah Brown is OU's leader in rebounding (7.2). 

The Braves are 4-0 at home this season. OU is averaging 91 points per game and shooting 45.2 percent from the floor, 33.1 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 67.2 percent from the free throw line. Opponents are scoring 58.8 points per game and shooting 35.6 percent from the floor, 29.1 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 58.7 percent from the free throw line inside of Wilson Field House.

OU is ranked 21st in the NAIA in points per game (81.3), 19th in field goals made per game (30.2), 12th in field goals attempted per game (71.9), 10th in 3-pt field goals made per game (9.9), eighth in 3-pt field goals attempted per game (32.2), 32nd in offensive rebounds per game (15.4), 39th in total rebounds per game (43.4), 28th in opponent offensive rebounds per game (9.0), 26th in rebound margin per game (8.6), 46th in assists per game (15.8), 43rd in opponent assists per game (10.6), sixth in turnovers per game (11.9), ninth in opponent steals per game (6.1), 19th in offensive efficiency (1.071), and 20th in net efficiency (0.267).

Wednesday is the sixth game between Ottawa University and Evangel University. The Valor lead the series 4-1 and are on a two game winning streak against the Braves. EU won both games last season, defeating OU 83-74 in Springfield on Dec. 11, 2024 and 101-90 in overtime on Jan. 25, 2025 in Wilson Field House. The game on Jan. 25 was the first time the two teams played an overtime contest. Ottawa's lone victory over Evangel happened on Feb. 21, 2024 in Wilson Field House, 72-65. The Braves are 1-1 against the Valor in Wilson Field House. The first game between the two teams happened on Nov. 26, 1988 in Springfield, Mo. EU won the game 74-36. 

Evangel University is 8-1 overall and 5-0 in the KCAC. The Valor are on a seven game winning streak and have a mark of 5-0 on the road this season. Evangel enters Wednesday's game coming off a 102-81 victory over Bethel last Saturday in Springfield. It was the second straight game where the Valor had scored 100 or more points. EU defeated the University of Saint Mary 104-77 on Dec. 3. 

EU has one of the best offenses in the NAIA. The Valor are ranked fourth in the NAIA in points per game (93), first in field goals made per game (36.1), eighth in field goals attempted per game (74.2), and sixth in field goal percentage (.487). 

Heaven Shockley leads the Valor in scoring (15.6), rebounding (7.8), and blocks (2.0). Cassidy Hambelton is EU's leader in assists (6.7) and steals (3.0) per game. 

The Valor are averaging 93 points, 36.9 rebounds, and 20.7 assists per game. Evangel is shooting 48.7 percent from the floor, 39.5 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 69.6 percent from the free throw line. 

Evangel is ranked 23rd in the NAIA in points (837), 33rd in 3-pt field goals made per game (8.3), seventh in 3-pt field goal percentage (.395), 37th in opponent defensive rebounds per game (23.6), 40th in opponent total rebounds per game (33.7), fifth in assists per game (20.7), 29th in turnovers per game (13.9), 17th in opponent turnovers per game (25), 17th in steals per game (15.2), seventh in blocks per game (5.0), fifth in offensive efficiency (1.115), and 16th in net efficiency (0.304).

The Valor are 5-0 on the road this season, averaging 93.6 points per game. EU is shooting 49.3 percent from the floor, 38.6 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 67.7 percent from the free throw line.
