WICHITA, Kan. – The (19) Ottawa University baseball team fell 10-4 to Friends University on Tuesday afternoon at Westside Field.
Ottawa took scored first, taking the lead in the top of the first inning.
Julius Ryan walked and then stole second. A ground out to second by
Jeremy Freeman, Jr. moved Ryan to third.
Cole Broughton scored him with a ground out to the pitcher and the Braves had a 1-0 lead.
Friends tied the game with a run in the bottom of the first inning, 1-1. OU answered with two runs in the top of the second.
Jackson Alaniz struck out but reached first on a wild pitch.
Branden Franz moved him to second with a single to center. An error by the Falcon second baseman moved both into scoring position. Ryan scored both with a single to center and OU had a 3-1 lead.
The Falcons responded with a run in the bottom of the third, two runs in the bottom of the fourth, one in the bottom of the fifth, two in the bottom of the sixth, and three in the bottom of the seventh to take a 10-3 lead over the Braves.
Ottawa cut into the Friends' lead with a run in the top of the eighth.
Jaquavius Davis singled to center and then scored on a single to right by Ryan, putting the Braves within 10-4.
OU was unable to rally in the top of the ninth and Friends took the 10-4 victory.
