Baseball is Defeated by (1) LSU Shreveport, 5-2

SHREVEPORT, La. – The Ottawa University baseball team fell 5-2 to no. 1 LSU Shreveport on Monday night in its second game of the NAIA Opening Round Shreveport Bracket.

The Pilots struck first, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first inning. Ottawa cut into the LSU Shreveport lead in the top of the fourth.

Dylan Garcia led the inning off with a double to right. Cole Broughton moved him to third with a single to center. Jackson Alaniz's ground out to the pitcher scored Garcia, cutting the deficit to 4-1.

The Braves again cut into the Pilot lead with a run in the top of the sixth. Jeremy Freeman, Jr. walked and Garcia was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second. Alaniz scored Freeman with a single to left and Ottawa was within 4-2.

LSU Shreveport scored on a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the eighth to increase its lead to 5-2. Ottawa was unable to rally in the top of the ninth and the Pilots took a 5-2 victory.
