OTTAWA, Kan. – Ottawa University Director of Athletics
Janet Eaton-Smith is pleased to announce the hiring of Jarett Waters as the new head coach for the Braves cheer and STUNT programs.
"We are thrilled to announce Jarett Waters as our new head cheer and Stunt coach," said Eaton-Smith. "Jarett brings a wealth of experience and leadership from the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA), where he has helped shape programs with a strong foundation in standardized practices and collegiate-level development. His expertise in choreography, combined with a commitment to teaching fundamental skills, makes him a perfect fit to lead and elevate both our sideline spirit and competitive performance."
Waters brings a wealth of experience to OU, having most recently served as head coach for the cheerleading and mascot programs at Frostburg State University from 2018 to 2022. During his tenure, he successfully rebuilt and elevated the programs, guiding them through a transition from NCAA Division III to NCAA Division II.
Prior to his time at Frostburg State, Waters was the head cheerleading coach at Catholic University of America from 2015 to 2018. He has also served as a head instructor and choreographer for the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) since 2011. In this role, he has worked with more than 150 programs across the country, providing training and support for both new and veteran staff in USA cheer procedures and safety protocols.
A former member of the Penn State University cheerleading program, Waters is currently completing his degree in information sciences and technology.
"I'm excited for the opportunity to join the OU family," said Waters. "Cheerleading has been a part of my life for so many years and I'm very passionate about it. I look forward to bringing my passion for this sport and experience to build a stronger future for these programs. Let's get started, Braves!"
Waters is expected to begin his duties at Ottawa University immediately.
