Football is Defeated by (RV) Kansas Wesleyan in Season Opener, 27-10

SALINA, Kan. – The Ottawa University football team dropped its season opener on the road, falling 27-10 to (RV) Kansas Wesleyan at JRI Stadium on Saturday night.

The Braves tied the game at 7-7 midway through the second quarter when Luke Edwards connected with Rowdy Keith for a 14-yard touchdown. Ethan Yinger later added a 32-yard field goal just before halftime to pull Ottawa within 14-10.

Out of the break, Kansas Wesleyan controlled the game, adding a 33-yard field goal and two rushing touchdowns to extend its lead. The Coyotes tacked on a 45-yard field goal in the fourth to seal the 27-10 win.

Edwards led the OU offense with 161 passing yards and a touchdown, while Key Long and Jayden Johnson each hauled in six receptions. Defensively, Ethan Yinger paced the Braves with 10 tackles, and Elijah Hann recorded an interception.

Ottawa was limited to just five rushing yards on 19 attempts, while Kansas Wesleyan ran for 222 yards, led by Luke Armstrong's 136.
