Outdoor Track and Field Turns in Strong Performances at Tabor Invite

HILLSBORO, Kan. - The Ottawa University men's and women's track & field teams delivered a strong showing at the Tabor College Invite on Saturday, highlighted by event wins, top-three finishes, and several personal-best caliber efforts across both squads.

MEN'S RECAP
Ottawa's men were led by a dominant performance in the relays and solid depth across sprints, middle distance, and field events.

The Braves' 4x100m relay team of Domonic Atkinstall, Daniel Campbell, Athens Fawkes, and Casey Evink raced to a first-place finish with a time of 42.84.

Evink also starred individually, clocking 11.00 in the 100m, leading Ottawa sprinters with one of the top times of the meet.

In the 400m, Riley Hartman posted a strong 51.97, while Zachariah Harvey added a 53.80 in the 400m and contributed in the field events with a solid showing in the triple jump.

Middle distance saw Matthias Bessey lead the way with a 2:03.86 in the 800m, continuing to provide consistency for the Braves.

In the field events, Tabari Mason highlighted the day with a second-place finish in the triple jump (13.84m), while Blake Walker contributed in multiple events, including long jump (6.08m) and triple jump (12.58m).

WOMEN'S RECAP
The Ottawa women turned in an impressive performance, highlighted by a pair of event victories and strong finishes across both track and field.

Tanzania Barnes led the way with a first-place finish in the 400m (1:06.58) and added a strong 12.35 in the 100m, pacing the Braves' sprint group.

JayOnna Perry also had a standout day, finishing second in the 400m (1:07.16) while clocking 12.10 in the 100m, giving Ottawa a powerful 1-2 punch in the event.

In the field events, Rian Boub delivered a first-place finish in the javelin (41.57m), leading a strong throws group. Her throw hit the NAIA B Standard and qualified her for the NAIA National Track and Field Meet.

Zoie Means-Thomas added depth with a fifth-place finish in the discus (37.95m) and also competed well in the shot put.

Kayla Whiteaker highlighted the jumps crew with a second-place finish in the long jump (5.09m) and added a mark in the triple jump.

Ottawa returns to action at the ESU Relays. The meet will take place on Thursday, April 16 through Saturday, April 18 in Emporia, Kan.
