WICHITA, Kan. – The Ottawa University men's and women's track and field teams turned in strong performances at the 2026 KCAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, held April 30-May 1 at Friends University. The Ottawa women finished fifth overall, while the men placed sixth, highlighted by multiple All-KCAC performances (top-eight finishes). On top of those performances,
Roy'Janae Brown and
JayOnna Perry broke school records.
Women's Recap (5th Place)
Ottawa's women's squad was powered by dominant sprint and hurdle performances, led by a standout meet from
JayOnna Perry and
Roy'Janae Brown.
Brown opened the meet with a third place finish in the 100 meters (11.66), earning All-KCAC honors, and followed with a runner-up finish in the 200 meters (23.80). Those two marks set new school records in the 100M and the 200M.
Perry delivered one of the top all-around performances of the meet. She claimed conference titles in the 400 meters (54.52), 100 meter hurdles (13.75), and 400 meter hurdles (1:02.72), earning All-KCAC honors in all three events. Her 400M time of 54.52 set a new school record.
The Braves also found success in relays, as the 4x100 relay team of Perry, Brown,
Jah-Nisha Campbell, and
Tanzania Barnes captured first place with a time of 46.24.
In the field events,
Kena Leonard placed fourth in the shot put (11.85m) and earned All-KCAC honors, while
Rian Boub added a fourth place finish in the javelin (37.79m).
Men's Recap (6th Place)
The Ottawa men were led by strong sprint, relay, and jumping performances throughout the two-day meet.
Dominic Atkinstall highlighted the track efforts, placing second in the 200 meters (21.01) and fifth in the 100 meters (10.50), earning All-KCAC honors in both events.
The Braves' relay teams also scored valuable points. The 4x100 relay team placed third (41.45), while the 4x400 relay team also finished third (3:23.95), both earning All-KCAC honors.
In the field events,
Daniel Blount led the way with a conference championship in the triple jump (14.28m), while also placing third in the high jump (1.98m) and fifth in the long jump (6.99m) to earn multiple All-KCAC honors.
Dyson Battistoni added an All-KCAC performance with a seventh place finish in the pole vault (3.90m), and
Daniel Campbell placed eighth in the long jump (6.66m) to round out Ottawa's top finishers.
