OLATHE, Kan. - The Ottawa University men's and women's track and field teams turned in a strong showing at the 2026 Pioneer Classic, hosted by MidAmerica Nazarene, highlighted by record-breaking performances, multiple event wins, and a dominant showing from the women's sprint and relay groups.
MEN'S RECAP
Ottawa's men were led by a historic performance from
Daniel Blount in the field events. Blount captured the triple jump title with a leap of
14.97m (49' 1.5"), breaking a 26-year-old school record previously held by Tony Porter (14.60m) set in 2000. The mark also meets the
NAIA 'B' Standard, qualifying Blount for the NAIA National Track and Field Championships.
On the track, the Braves turned in several strong finishes:

In the field:
- Tabari Mason added a third-place finish in the triple jump (13.77m) and fourth in the long jump (6.23m).
- Alijah Centeio placed fourth in the javelin (42.02m).
WOMEN'S RECAP
The Ottawa women's team dominated the meet, particularly in the sprints, hurdles, and relays, piling up event wins throughout the weekend.
Roy'Janae Brown led the charge with a
first-place finish in the 100m (11.83), followed closely by teammate
Jah-Nisha Campbell in second (12.38), giving Ottawa a 1-2 sweep.
Campbell added another strong performance in the 400m, placing third (1:01.56).
JayOnna Perry delivered a standout meet, winning both hurdle events:
- 100 hurdles – 14.37 (1st)
- 400 hurdles – 1:02.66 (1st)
The Braves' relay teams were dominant:
- 4x100 relay (Barnes, Campbell, Brown, Perry) – 1st place, 46.90
- 4x400 relay (Barnes, Campbell, Perry, Mastin) – 1st place, 4:16.50
