2016: In his first meet of his sophomore season, Bergthold ran a time of 18:56.95 at the 5K ZK Maple Leaf Invitational to finish 25^th. He finished 89^th at the Papa John’s Invitational hosted by Emporia State University with a time of 29:25.60. Bergthold placed 49^th with a time of 30:46.98 at the Haskell Indian Nations University Invite. At the Mid-State Classic hosted by Southwestern College, he ran a time of 29:21.4 to place 108^th. He finished 51^st at the 2016 KCAC Cross Country Championships with a time of 28:56.1.  

2015: Bergthold finished 65^th at the Haskell Indian Nations University Invite with a time of 30:30.79. He ran a time of 29:41.30 at the Southwestern Mid States Meet to finish 119^th. Bergthold placed 66^th at the KCAC Men’s Cross Country Championships, running a time of 30:05.4. He had a time of 32:45 to finish 231^st at the Roy Griak Invitational.
