Arkansas State University Mid-South: Jones was a two year letterman at NJCAA ASU Mid-South. Jones twice earned All-Region honors. He averaged 16 points and eight rebounds his sophomore season, shooting a school-record 71.4% from the field, good for second in the nation. As a freshman, Jones averaged 12 points and six rebounds per game. Jones helped lead the Greyhounds to the NJCAA Region 2 Championship with an 18-11 record, tying the school record for wins in a season. The team finished seventh in the nation in scoring (92.8 points per game), first in rebounds (49.5 rebounds per game) and fifth in assists (21.3 assists per game), 18th in field goal percentage (.484) and 20th in rebound margin (11.3), all school records.
