Braves Take Series Vs. #11 OKWU with 12-2 Victory in Game 3

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – The Ottawa University baseball team took the series, 2-1, against no. 11 Oklahoma Wesleyan University with a 12-2 victory on Saturday afternoon.

Oklahoma Wesleyan struck first, taking a 2-0 lead over the Braves in the top of the first inning. Ottawa answered in its bottom half of the inning.

Jonah Weisner led the Braves off with a single. Tyler Farnham reached first on an error by the Eagle pitcher and OU had runners on first and second. Cole Broughton singled, scoring Weisner and OU was within 2-1.

Brandon Kelley was hit by a pitch, loading the bases. Robby Williams singled, scoring both Farnham and Broughton to give the Braves a 3-2 lead. Nicholas Sizemore's ground out scored Kelley and OU had a 4-2 lead.

In the bottom of the fourth, Ottawa increased its lead. Sizemore singled, bringing in Alex Kuhn as a courtesy runner. Liam Vulcano singled, moving Kuhn 90 feet from home. Zachary Spradlin grounded out to first, scoring Vulcano and OU had a 5-2 lead. Ottawa scored one more run on an Eagle miscue. Vulcano took advantage of the error by the Eagle third baseman to give the Braves a 6-2 lead.

Ottawa ended the game in the bottom of the eighth. OU scored six runs on three hits and one error to take the 12-2 victory.
