OTTAWA, Kan. – The (RV) Ottawa University men's tennis team opened KCAC play with a 7-0 victory over Oklahoma Wesleyan University on Thursday afternoon in Forest Park.
The Braves took a 1-0 lead in the doubles point with
Oscar Giorgio and
Ben Russell's 6-1 victory in no. 2 doubles. Ottawa won the doubles point with
Jarmo Perez Wienese and
Jhoel Quinonez's 7-5 victory in no. 1 doubles over Clement Martin and Eloi Riva.
Quinonez won his no. 2 singles match 6-2, 6-1 over Riva to give the Braves a 2-0 lead over the Eagles.
Santiago Tartaglia's 6-2, 6-4 win in no. 1 singles over Martin gave OU a 3-0 lead. Ottawa clinched the match with
Julian Toloza's 6-0, 6-0 win in no. 4 singles over Grimm, 4-0.
Bernardo Figueiredo defeated Callahan 6-3, 6-1 in no. 3 singles. Giorgio and
Almog Cohen won their no. 5 and no. 6 single matches by default.
Ottawa (5-3, 1-0) returns to the court on Monday, March 18 in Springfield, Mo. against Evangel University. The match is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m.
