OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's tennis team opened KCAC play with a 7-0 victory over Oklahoma Wesleyan University at Forest Park on Thursday afternoon.

The Braves took a 1-0 lead in the doubles point with Alejandra Parra and Paula Persson's 6-0 victory over Kylie White and Aliza Hays in no. 3 doubles. Valeria Rodriguez and Priyanshi Sharma's 7-6 (7-5) victory over Jewel Henderson and Madeline Henderson in no. 1 doubles gave OU the double point, 2-0. Isidora Hrnjak and Lily Keimig defeated Nancy Henderson and Nikoleta Aleksi 7-6 (7-3) in no. 3 doubles.

Persson won her no. 3 singles match 6-3, 6-0 over Aleksic to give OU a 2-0 lead in the match. Hrnjak's 6-1 6-3 victory in no. 1 singles against Nancy Henderson increased the Brave lead to 3-0. Ottawa took the match with Sharma's 6-4, 6-2 win in no. 2 singles over Jewel Henderson, 4-0. Rodriguez won her no. 5 singles match 6-1, 6-0 against White. Parra took a 7-5, 6-2 victory in no. 4 singles over Madeline Henderson. Keimig defeated Hays 6-4, 6-1 in no. 6 singles.

Ottawa (5-3, 1-0) returns to the court on Monday, March 18 at Evangel University in Springfield, Mo. The match is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m.
