SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The (RV) Ottawa University men's tennis team defeated Evangel University 6-1 on Monday afternoon at the Cooper Tennis Complex.

Ottawa took a 1-0 lead in the double point with Jarmo Perez Wienese and Jhoel Quinonez's 6-0 win in no. 1 doubles over Emilio Chavarria and Vinicius Costa. Santiago Tartaglia and Julian Toloza's 6-1 victory in no. 2 doubles over Tomas Villamil and Tiago Gallopo gave the Braves the doubles point, 2-0. Oscar Giorgio and Bernardo Figueiredo fell 6-3 in no. 3 doubles to Gabriel Leal and Ilija Martinovic.

The Braves increased their lead over Evangel with Perez Wienese's 6-3, 6-0 win in no. 2 singles over Leal, 2-0. Tartaglia's 6-1, 6-2 victory in no. 3 singles against Chavarria gave OU a 3-0 lead. Ottawa clinched the match with Quinonez's 6-4, 6-0 victory in no. 1 singles over Costa, 4-0. Giorgio took a 6-1, 6-1 victory in no. 5 singles over Gallopo. Toloza won his no. 6 singles match 6-2, 6-4 against Martinovic. Figueiredo fell 6-3, 7-6 (4) in no. 4 singles to Villamil.

Ottawa (6-3, 2-0) returns to the court on Saturday, March 23 at Sterling College in Sterling, Kan. The match is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m
