OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University men's tennis team fell 4-3 to (RV) Bethel College on Saturday morning in Forest Park.
Jhoel Quinonez and
Bernardo Figueiredo fell 6-3 in no. 2 doubles to Petr Kollar and Tomas Quercia to give Bethel the 1-0 lead in the doubles point. Ottawa tied things up with
Ben Russell and
Oscar Giorgio's 6-4 win in no. 3 doubles over Jonah Bergeron and Rodrigo Sanchez. Bethel took the doubles point with
Santiago Tartaglia and
Julian Toloza's 6-4 loss to Milan Bucek and Michael Cech in no. 1 doubles.
Ottawa tied the match in no. 3 singles. Toloza won 6-3. 6-1 over Quercia. Bethel retook the lead with the win in no. 1 singles. Quinonez fell 6-1, 6-3 to Bucek, 2-1. The Threshers increased their lead in no. 2 singles. Tartaglia fell in three sets to Cech, 1-6, 6-3, 6-3, 3-1. Ottawa cut into the Bethel lead with Giorgio's 6-3, 6-3 win in no. 4 singles over Kollar, 3-2. The Braves tied the match with
Almog Cohen's three set victory 2-6, 7-5, 7-5 over Sanchez, 3-3. Russell fell short in no. 6 singles, 6-2, 7-5 to Bergeron and Bethel took the match 4-3.
The Braves (12-5, 8-1) return to the court on Thursday, April 18 against (18) McPherson College in Forest Park. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.
