Women's Basketball Hosts Southwestern on Wednesday

Ottawa has an overall record of 6-1 and a 3-1 mark in the KCAC. The Braves are on a three game winning streak after defeating Cottey College on Nov. 25, 75-40 in Nevada, Mo. 

OU's 6-1 start through its first seven games is its best start since the 1992-93 season when the Braves went 6-1 through its first seven games. That season, OU had a record of 13-1 before suffering its second loss of the season on Jan. 16 to, then, no. 21 Sterling College. 

Through seven games this season Ottawa is averaging 83.1 points, 42.1 rebounds, and 15.7 assists per game. The Braves are shooting 43.4 percent from the floor, 30.8 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 71.2 percent from the free throw line. 

McKinley Kruger leads the team in scoring (11.3) and steals (1.7) per game. Ashlynn Arnsman is OU's leader in rebounding (7.4) and assists (3.0) and Clare Williams leads the team in blocks (0.7).

In KCAC games this season, Ottawa is averaging 78 points per game while allowing 73.3 points per game. The Braves are shooting 43.4 percent from the floor, 29.8 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 72.5 percent from the free throw line. OU is out rebounding opponents 40-35 and forcing 16 turnovers per game. 

Ottawa is ranked 19th in the NAIA in points per game (83.1), 22nd in field goals made per game (30.9), 16th in field goals attempted per game (71.1), 44th in field goal percentage (.434), 18th in 3-pt field goals made per game (9.4), 11th in 3-pt field goals attempted per game (30.6), 44th in offensive rebounds per game (14.9), 48th in assists per game (15.7), 34th in opponent assists per game (10.3), eighth in turnovers per game (11.9), 12th in opponent steals per game (5.9), 15th in offensive efficiency (1.086), and 21st in net efficiency (0.286).

The Braves are undefeated at home this season with a 3-0 record. Inside of Wilson Field House this season, Ottawa is scoring 92.3 points per game and shooting 44 percent from the floor, 32.5 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 66.1 percent from the free throw line. Opponents are scoring 60.7 points per game and shooting 34.5 percent from the floor, 27.7 percent from behind the 3pt line, and 58.8 percent from the free throw line. 

At home this season, Ottawa is outscoring opponents 35.3-18 in points in the paint and 17-5.6 in second chance points per game. 

Wednesday is the 94th meeting between Ottawa University and Southwestern College. The Braves are on a four game winning streak and are 8-2 in their last 10 games against the Moundbuilders. OU has won eight straight in Wilson Field House against Southwestern. The last time Ottawa fell to the Moundbuilders at home was on Dec. 10, 2015, 61-48. The first ever meeting between the two teams happened on Feb. 8, 1909 in Winfield, Kan. The game ended in a tie, 16-16. Ottawa's first win at home against Southwestern was on Feb. 1, 1983, 51-48.

Southwestern College is 4-4 this season and 0-3 in the KCAC. The Moundbuilders enter Wednesday's game coming off an 81-63 victory over Hesston College on Nov. 24. 

Through eight games this season, the Moundbuilders are averaging 63.1 points, 34.3 rebounds, and 8.8 assists per game. SWC is shooting 39.3 percent from the floor, 29.2 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 65.3 percent from the free throw line. 

Macey Pond leads the team in scoring (17.5), rebounding (10), assists (3.4), and blocks (0.6). Breanna Goad is SWC's leader in steals (1.6) per game.
