Baseball Starts Its Four Game Series at Central Baptist on Friday

The Braves started off 2025 with a four game sweep of Hastings College last week at Alumni Park. Ottawa won game one, 8-1, game two 6-5, game three 12-2, and game four 7-6 in eight innings. Dylan Garcia had the walk off hit in game two and Cole Broughton had the walk off hit in game four.

Jeremy Freeman, Jr. was named KCAC Player of the Week for his effort in OU's four victories over Hastings College. In the series with the Broncos, Freeman hit .400, scored six runs, hit two doubles and one triple, drove in three runs, had a .800 slugging percentage, walked nine times, had a .733 on base percentage, and was 8-for-8 in stolen bases in OU four wins over Hastings College.

Jeremy Freeman's four walks in game two against Hastings on Jan. 29 are the most a Brave has walked in a single game since Aaron Marshall walked four times on March 26, 2016 against the University of Saint Mary.

This season the Braves have scored 33 runs, have a .292 batting average, a .470 on base percentage, a .438 slugging percentage, and have hit two home runs.

Dylan Garcia leads the Braves in batting average (.500) and RBI (4). Jeremy Freeman Jr. is the team's leader in stolen bases (8). Caden Gray leads OU In ERA (4.00) in four innings pitched and Zack Melendez is OU's leader in strike outs with 11.

Ottawa is ranked 48th in the NAIA in total runs (33), 40th in triples (1), 38th in walks (27), 36th in hit by pitch (8), 39th in strike outs (29), 26th in sacrifice flies (3), 36th in sacrifice hits (2), second in stolen bases (26), 22nd in on base percentage (.470), and 28th in opponent batting average (.230).

Ottawa has a record of 1-3 against Central Baptist College. The last time the two teams met was in 2018 (Feb. 2-Feb. 3). CBC won the series, 3-1. The Mustangs took game one 3-1, game two 4-3, and game three 2-1. Ottawa won game four 10-1.

Central Baptist College has opened the season 0-3 with losses to LSU Shreveport 8-5 on Jan. 31, 10-0 to Indiana Southeast on Feb. 1, and LSU Shreveport 14-4 on Feb. 1.

The Mustangs have scored nine runs, have a .271 batting average, a .364 on base percentage, and a .318 slugging percentage.

CBC is ranked 40th in the NAIA in triples (1), ninth in hit into a double play (5), and 37th in caught stealing (2).

Julian Rodriguez leads the team in batting average (.500). Ryan Dauphinee and Aaron Prince are CBC's leaders in RBI (2), Garrett Fitts leads the Mustangs in stolen bases (2). Jackson Pope is the team's leader in ERA (6.00) in three innings pitched. Josh Albat leads CBC in strike outs (6).
