LINDSBORG, Kan. – The Ottawa University men's tennis team fell 4-2 in the KCAC Tournament Championship match on Saturday morning at the Dr. Emory Lindquist Tennis Center.
Ben Russell and
Oscar Giorgio won their no. 2 doubles match 6-3 over Arthur Nardy and Simon Delgadillo to give OU a 1-0 lead in the doubles point. Ottawa clinched the point with
Santiago Tartaglia and Daniel Sanchez's victory over Jayson Wasserfuhr and Balazs Temesvari, 6-2, no. 3 doubles.
Ottawa increased its lead to 2-0 with Giorgio's 6-3, 6-1 win in no. 4 singles over Wasserfuhr. McPherson cut into OU's lead with Nardy's 7-5, 6-4 victory in no. 1 singles over Tartaglia. Russell was defeated 7-6, 7-6 in no. 3 singles and the match was tied 2-2. Perez Wienese lost 6-3, 6-1 in no. 2 singles and
Bernardo Figueiredo lost 6-0, 5-7, 6-4 in no. 6 singles.
OU (18-7) will now compete at the NAIA Men's Tennis National Championships, May 13-17 at the Mobile Tennis Center in Mobile, Ala.
