Men's Tennis Competes at ITA Regional Championships

SALINA, Kan. - The Ottawa men's tennis team capped off the fall portion of their schedule at the ITA Regional Championships.

In the men's open singles, Jarmo Wienese was defeats 4-6, 2-6 in the round of 64 by Oklahoma Wesleyan University's Raphael Alvado. Daniel Sanchez fell in the round of 64 as well to Alejo Zurmendi of Texas Wesleyan University, 1-6, 3-6. Enzo Ceravolo was also defeated in the round of 64 by Jesse Gerth from Morningside College, 6-7, 1-6. Jarmo Wienese beat Joel Carter of Hastings College, 8-3 in the consolation bracket before falling to William Woods University's Tomas Guadagni, 4-8. Enzo Ceravolo also won his first match in the consolation bracket over Jaime Asiain Banzo of Doane University, 8-6, and then was defeated by Jayson Wasserfuhr of McPherson College, 6-8. Daniel Sanchez fell to Wasserfuhr, 1-8, in the first round of the consolation bracket.

In the men's open doubles, Jarmo Wienese and Enzo Ceravolo won their opening match 8-3 over Diego Infante and Mats Vervloet of Doane University before falling 6-8 to Petr Kollar and Zaidh Zihar of Bethel College.

Ottawa has concluded their fall schedule. They will hit the court again on February 6 as they take on Emporia State University in Emporia.
