Women's Basketball is on the Road at McPherson on Saturday

The Braves are 12-9 overall and 7-8 in the KCAC. Ottawa is on a one game losing streak and has a record of 5-6 on the road this season. OU enters Saturday's game coming off an 83-76 overtime loss to no. 17 Evangel University in Springfield on Wednesday. 

In the overtime loss to Evangel University on Wednesday, Ottawa held the Valor to 11 points under its scoring average. OU shot 37.8 percent from the floor, 34.2 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 70 percent from the free throw line. Dominique Schutte led OU with 27 points and Clare Williams scored 19 points. Williams hit the three to send the game into overtime. Schutte also led OU in rebounding with six and Allison Daniels had seven assists. 

Ottawa is averaging 75.3 points, 40.3 rebounds, and 15.6 assists per game. The Braves are shooting 40.3 percent from the floor, 31.5 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 72.5 percent from the free throw line. 

The Braves 75.3 points per game average are the most by an OU women's basketball team since 1992-93. That season Ottawa averaged 77.1 points per game. The most by an OU women's basketball team was 81.5 in 1993-94.

Dominique Schutte leads the Braves in scoring (12), Aaliyah Brown leads the team in rebounding (6.8), McKinley Kruger is OU's leader in assists (2.4), Ashlynn Arnsman leads the team in blocks (0.5), and Kruger is the Braves' leader in steals per game (1.6). 

Ottawa's freshmen continue to play a major part in 2025-26. They are contributing 53.3 percent of OU's scoring and playing 13 or more minutes per game. Kiana Hostetler: 4.3, McKinley Kruger: 11.9, Molly Martin: 7.1, Clare Williams: 7.3, Hailey Rademan: 5.2, and Alison Daniels: 4.3.

In 15 KCAC games this season, the Braves are averaging 73.1 points per game and shooting 40.1 percent from the floor, 31.9 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 74.9 percent from the free throw line. Dominique Schutte and McKinley Kruger are scoring in double figures for the Braves in KCAC play. Saturday is the 92nd game between Ottawa University and McPherson College. The Braves lead the all-time series 50-41 and Ottawa is on a seven game winning streak. OU has won three straight games in Holman Fieldhouse. The last time Ottawa lost in McPherson was on Dec. 13, 2021, 78-73. The Braves won the first meeting this season on Nov. 22, 2025 in Wilson Field House, 95-70. The first ever game between the two teams was in McPherson in 1976. The Bulldogs won the game 74-35. 

In OU's win over McPherson on Nov. 22 in Wilson Field House. Ottawa shot 45.7 percent from the floor. Dominique Schutte scored a career high 30 points. She was 7-for-11 from behind the 3-pt line. Aaliyah Brown had a double-double, 14 points and 13 rebounds. 

Ottawa is ranked 31st in the NAIA in points (1,581), 41st in points per game (75.3), 28th in field goals attempted per game (67.3), 15th in 3-pt field goals made per game (9.2), 13th in 3-pt field goals attempted per game (29.2), 43rd in offensive rebounds per game (14.2), 48th in assists per game (15.6), 24th in turnovers per game (13.8), 24th in opponent steals per game (6.9), and 39th in offensive efficiency (1.003).

McPherson College has an overall record of 7-13 and a KCAC mark of 3-12. The Bulldogs are on a five game losing streak and have a record of 6-6 on Jim's Applicances of Inman Court. McPherson's last win came on Jan. 10 at home against Southwestern College, 67-64. That win was also MC's last home victory. 

Maizen Gillam leads the Bulldogs in scoring (10.7), Auhnesty Hawkins is MC's leader in rebounding (4.6), Gillam leads the team in assists (1.3), Margaret Ajayi is the Bulldogs' leader in blocks (0.9), and Gillam is the team's leader in steals (1.1). 

The Bulldogs are ranked 48th in the NAIA in free throws made per game (13.9), 18th in free throws attempted per game (22.4), 50th in opponent turnovers per game (20), and 20th in opponent personal fouls per game (19.4).

This season McPherson is averaging 62.1 points, 39 rebounds, and 10.9 assists per game. The Bulldogs are shooting 33.5 percent from the floor, 25.1 percent from the floor, and 61.9 percent from the free throw line. 

At home this season, the Bulldogs are scoring 62.5 points per game and shooting 33.2 percent from the floor, 23.4 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 62.2 percent from the free throw line. 

In the Bulldogs seven wins, they are scoring 74.7 points per game. In their 13 losses, McPherson is scoring 55.4 points per game.
