Outdoor 2014: Mendez ran a personal best time of 4:07.79 in the 1500M at the Darrel Gourley Open. He earned All-KCAC honors in the 1500M with a time of 4:10.61 at the KCAC Outdoor Championships. In his only 3000M race of the outdoor season, Mendez ran a personal best time of 9:08.05 at the Bo Boucek Invite. He ran a personal best time of 15:37.79 in the 5000M at the PSU Open. Mendez earned All-KCAC honors in the 5000M with a time of 16:07.38 at the KCAC Outdoor Championships. He was part of the 4x400M Relay and 4x800M Relay teams that competed at the KCAC Outdoor Championships.
Indoor 2014: Mendez earned All-KCAC honors as a member of the Distance Medley Relay (DMR). The Braves ran a time of 8:14.14 at the KCAC Indoor Championships. Running in his only 1000M race of the indoor season, Mendez finished with a time of 2:49.79 at the Dutch Athletic Classic. He ran a season best time of 9:04.65 in the 3000M at the Dutch Athletic Classic. Mendez was part of the 4x800M Relay team that competed at the KCAC Indoor Championships. They ran a time of 8:33.12.
Outdoor 2013: Mendez earned All-KCAC honors in the 5000M with a time of 15:56.55 at the KCAC Championships. He ran a season’s best time of 15:46.39 at the Wildcat open in the 5000M. Mendez ran a time of 4:49.29 in the 1500M at the KCAC Championships and finished with a time of 9:11.27 in the 3000M at the ESU Relays.
Indoor 2013: Mendez finished with a personal best time of 9:18.41 in the 3000M at the Mule Relays. At the KCAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, Mendez finished with a time of 15:48.38 in the 5000M.
Outdoor 2012: In the 800M at the KT Woodman Classic, Mendez finished with a time of 2:09.43. At the PSU Wendy’s Open Invitational, he ran a time of 4:20.01 in the 1500M. Mendez ran a season’s best time of 4:15.05 at the State Farm ESU Relays in the 1500M.
Colorado Mountain College: Mendez attended CMC for one year.
High School: Mendez earned two letters in track and one in both cross country and basketball. He was a state participant his senior year of high school.
Personal: Son of Monica Mendizabal ... born May 23, 1992 ... exercise science major. Mendez’s favorite book is “Dear John” by Nicholas Sparks and he enjoys hanging out with family and friends. He is the first person in his family to attend college and Mendez looks up to his mom for always being there for him.
