Entering her junior season, Bates is tied for sixth in the OU record book in SACs (7) and sixth in runners caught stealing (8).
2016: In her sophomore season, Bates played in 31 games with 28 starts. She went 27-for-84 at the plate for a .321 batting average. Bates scored 11 runs, hit one double and a triple, drove in five runs, had a .357 slugging percentage, was hit by a pitch twice, had a .337 slugging percentage, and went 3-for-4 in stolen base attempts. She finished the year with six multi-hit games and had a career high four hits versus Bacone College (3/4).
2015: Bates played and started in 34 games behind the plate in her first collegiate season. She had 25 hits in 94 at bats for a .266 batting average. Bates scored 14 runs, hit one double, drove in 10, had a slugging percentage of .277, walked three times, was hit by a pitch three times, had an on base percentage of .307, hit one sacrifice fly and four sacrifice bunts, and she was 1-for-2 in stolen base attempts. She had seven multi-hit games, tallying a season high three hits against the University of Saint Mary (3/24). Bates hit her first career double against Friends University (4/23) and drove in her first run versus Baker University (3/9).
High School: Bates earned letters in softball and basketball for Valley View High School.
