Biography

2020-21: As a junior in his first season with Ottawa University, Hernandez went 11-3 and 2-0 in duals. He wrestled in the heavyweight class (285 lbs). He earned 39.5 team points on the season and, in the process, had three falls. Hernandez pinned his first opponent at the KCAC invitational in less than 0:24 of mat time. He went on to finish runner-up at the invitational. He defeated teammate Dalton Sikes to take home first place in the KCAC Tournament. He was one of the Braves’ six national qualifiers, making it to the fourth round of the consolation bracket before bowing out of the competition.

Cloud County Community College: Hernandez earned two letters in wrestling at Cloud County Community College. He was a two-time NJCAA National Tournament qualifier.

High School: At Garden City High School, Hernandez lettered in wrestling and football. He helped GCHS to the 2014 and 2016 state championship. Hernandez was an All-Class Top 10 selection as a junior and senior. He twice placed at state, earning second. Hernandez was a Rocky Mountain National Runner-up.

Personal: Son of Benito and Patricia Hernandez ... undecided on a major. Hernandez's younger brother Diago Hernandez is a member of the OU men's wrestling program. He was the college teammate of Brave Cameron Young-Leggett.
