2018-19: During his freshman season, Schechter finished with an overall record of 7-11. He had a dual record of 5-1 and won two matches by fall.

High School: While at Valley Center High School, he lettered in football, wrestling and track and field. During his senior year, Schechter competed in three different weight classes in varsity matches.
