This is the 48th season that women's basketball has been sponsored as a varsity sport at Ottawa University. The Braves have a record of 511-753 since 1975.
Ottawa is 21-26 in season openers and 1-1 under head coach
Tarniesha Scott. The Braves defeated Haskell Indian Nations University 87-79 in Wilson Field House on Oct. 28 to open the 2021-22 season.
OU is 22-25 in home openers dating back to the 1975 season. The Braves are 1-1 under Coach Scott in home openers. Ottawa won its home opener, which was its season opener as well, last year 87-79 over Haskell.
The Braves were picked to finish 11th by the conference media and eighth by the coaches in the 2022-23 KCAC Media and Coaches Polls.
This will be just the second time that Ottawa University and Barclay College have played each other. OU defeated Barclay 62-48 in Haviland on Nov. 13. OU shot 37.5 percent from the floor, 14.3 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 47.8 percent from the free throw line. OU did not have a starter play more than 18 minutes.
Jalisa Simons led the Braves in scoring with 14 points. She had three assists, three blocks, and two steals.
Haley Franklin finished with 11 points and
Alyssa Guzman came off the bench to score 10 points.
Liz Vaughn led the Braves with six rebounds.
Ottawa returns five players from its 2021-22 roster, including starter
Jordan Bianco.
Seven newcomers were added to OU's varsity roster. They include:

Maria Moore,
Kiersten Markos,
Jayla Johnson,
Hailey Henry,
Nicole Brown, and
Katelyn Alatini.
Two of OU's newcomers were NJCAA All-Americans.
Jayla Johnson (Mesa Community College) and
Maria Moore (Dakota College of Bottineau).
Barclay College finished the 2021-22 season with a record of 14-12 against NCCAA opponents and a final ranking of no. 13 in the NCCAA Division II rankings.
The Bears ended the season in second in the Midwest Christian College Conference
Bear head coach Scott Post has a record of 30-16 against NCCAA teams in his three seasons at Barclay College.
