LAWRENCE, Kan. – The Ottawa University men's tennis team defeated Bethel College in the KCAC Tournament Quarterfinals on Thursday afternoon, 4-2, at the Genesis Health Club. OU won the doubles point and had a record of 3-2 in singles.
Andris Gudins and
Jhoel Quinonez won their no. 1 doubles match 6-2 over Michael Cech and Milan Bucek.
Scott Hjelm, Jr. and
Oscar Aguilera took a 6-3 victory in no. 2 doubles over Jordan Singh and Nolan Schrader.
Hjelm defeated Bucek 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 in no. 2 singles. Quinonez earned a 6-3, 6-2 victory in no. 3 singles over Schrader. Aguilera won his no. 4 singles match 5-7, 6-2, 7-6 (8-4) over Tomas Quercia.
Luke Graham lost a three set match to Pluis 6-2, 1-6, 6-1. Gudins fell in his no. 1 singles match 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 to Cech.
Ottawa (8-9) will now play McPherson College in the KCAC Tournament Semifinals at the Kossover Tennis Center in Topeka, Kan. on Friday, April 29. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
