CHICKASHA, Okla. – The Ottawa University softball team stayed alive in its NAIA Opening Round with a 1-0 victory over Mount Marty University on Tuesday afternoon at Bill Smith Ballpark.
Ottawa broke a 0-0 tie in the bottom the fourth inning.
Hannah Copeland reached first in a walk.
Kelcie Kippes sacrificed Copeland to second, putting her in scoring position and bringing
Jillian Kygar to the plate. Kygar put the ball in play and Copeland took off for home. The MMU second baseman dropped the pop up and Copeland crossed home plate, giving OU a 1-0 lead.
In the final three innings, only two MMU players reached base and OU took the 1-0 victory.
