OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University men's tennis team won its third straight match with a 5-2 victory over Sterling College at Forest Park on Saturday afternoon. The Braves won the doubles point 3-0 and had a record of 4-2 in singles.
Oscar Aguilera and
Erik Czapinski defeated Jayce Blede and Zack Hash 6-1 in no. 3 doubles.
Oscar Giorgio and
Julian Toloza won their no. 1 doubles match 6-3 over Antonio Paredes and Angel Marin to clinch the doubles point, 2-0.
Jhoel Quinonez and
Kevin Ugarteche took a 6-3 victory in their no. 2 doubles match over Pedro Felipoff and Estaban Rocha.
The Braves took a 2-0 lead over the Warriors with Giorgio's 6-0, 6-1 victory over Marin in no. 3 singles. Czapinski's 6-1, 6-4 victory in no. 5 singles gave Ottawa a 3-0 lead over Sterling. OU clinched the match with Toloza's 6-4, 6-1 win over Flipoff in no. 2 singles.
Aguilera defeated Rocha in no. 4 singles, 6-2, 6-1. Ugarteche lost his no. 1 singles match 3-6, 7-5, 6-2 to Paredes.
Austin Ramirez fell in three sets to Hunter Lee, 2-6, 6-1, 10-2 in no. 6 singles.
Ottawa (7-2, 3-0) is back in action on Monday, March 27 on the road in Winfield, Kan. against Southwestern College. The match is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
