OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University men's tennis team moved its KCAC record to 7-1 with a 7-0 victory over the University of Saint Mary on Thursday afternoon at the campus courts. OU took the doubles point, 3-0 and had a record of 6-0 in singles.
Jhoel Quinonez and
Kevin Ugarteche won by default in no. 3 doubles.
Oscar Giorgio and
Santiago Tartaglia took a 6-0 victory in no. 2 doubles over Zachary Crumpakcer and Jerod Zimmerman to give OU the doubles point.
Julian Toloza and
Oscar Aguilera won their no. 1 doubles match 6-1 over Jackson Contrucci and Alec Anderson.
The Braves increased their lead to 3-0 over the Spires with default victories in no. 5 and no. 6 singles. Ottawa clinched the match with Tartaglia's 6-0, 6-0 victory in no. 1 singles over Contrucci. Toloza won his no. 3 singles match 6-0, 6-1 over Crumpacker. Quinonez defeated Anderson 6-0, 6-0 in no. 2 singles. Giorgio took a 6-0, 6-0 victory in no. 4 singles over Zimmerman.
Ottawa (11-3, 7-1) returns to action on Saturday, April 15 against Bethel College in North Newton, Kan. The match is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
