Box Score NORTH NEWTON, Kan. – The Ottawa University men's tennis team defeated Bethel College 4-3 on Sunday afternoon at the Ward Tennis Center. The Threshers took the doubles point, 2-1 but the Braves had a record of 4-2 in singles.

Ottawa took a 1-0 lead in doubles with a 6-1 victory in no. 3 singles by Jhoel Quinonez and Kevin Ugarteche. Oscar Aguilera and Julian Toloza fell in their no. 1 doubles match 6-3 to Michael Cech and Petr Kollar to tie the doubles point, 1-1. OU's no. 2 doubles team of Oscar Giorgio and Santiago Tartaglia fell 7-6 to Milan Bucek and Tomas Quercio and the Threshers took the doubles point, 2-1.

Tartaglia fell 6-2, 7-5 in no. 1 singles to Bucek, giving Bethel the 2-0 lead. Ottawa cut the Thresher lead to 2-1 with Toloza's 6-4, 6-3 win in no. 2 singles over Cech. Ugarteche's 6-2, 6-2 victory in no. 4 singles over Kollar tied the match, 2-2. Quinonez won his no. 3 singles match 2-6, 7-6, 6-2 over Sanchez to give OU a 3-2 lead over Bethel. Ottawa clinched the match with Giorgio's 6-4, 6-4 win over Quercio, 4-2. Aguilera fell in his no. 6 match 7-6, 6-3 to Rosas.

Ottawa (12-3, 8-1) will now travel to McPherson, Kan. on Thursday, April 20 to play no. 20 McPherson College. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m.
