OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University men's tennis team moved on to the KCAC Tournament Semifinals with a 4-2 victory over Kansas Wesleyan University on Wednesday afternoon. Kansas Wesleyan took the doubles point, 2-1 but the Braves had a record of 4-1 in singles.

Jhoel Quinonez and Kevin Ugarteche fell 6-4 in no. 3 singles to Adam Hanson and Luke Craft to give the Coyotes a 1-0 lead in doubles. Ottawa tied things with the Braves' win in no. 2 doubles by Santiago Tartaglia and Oscar Aguilera, 6-3, over Alex Sherer and Jacobo Phelps. In no. 1 doubles, Oscar Giorgio and Julian Toloza fell 7-6 (7) to Bryce Ware and Garrison Wright, giving KWU the doubles point.

Ottawa tied the match 1-1, with Uragteche's 6-2, 6-2 victory in no. 4 singles over Jacob Phelps. Quinonez's 6-4, 6-2 win in no. 3 singles over Wright gave OU a 2-1 lead. Kansas Wesleyan tied the match with Ware's 6-2, 7-5 win over OU's Tartaglia in no. 1 singles, 2-2. Toloza won his no. 2 singles match, 7-5, 6-3, over Sherer to give Ottawa a 3-2 lead. The Braves clinched the match with Giorgio's 6-1, 6-2 win in no. 5 singles over Hanson., 4-2. In no. 6 singles, Aguilera's match was unfinished, but he had won his first set 6-2 over Collin Phelps.

Ottawa (14-4) returns to action on Friday, April 28 against Southwestern College in the KCAC Tournament Semifinals. The match is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. at the Kossover Tennis Center.
