High School: Zilmer earned athletic letters in football and wrestling at Leavenworth High School. He played linebacker in the 2019 Blue-Grey All-American Football Game. Zilmer participated in the Kansas 6A State Wrestling Tournament and the 2018 Kansas State Powerlifting Tournament. He was named LHS 2016 Scout Team Defensive Player of the Year and was named to the 2019 Kansas State Wrestling Team. Zilmer was a member of the National Honor Society and was on the Honor Roll.
