2012: As a junior, Pener appeared in 18 games and had a batting average of .143 with four hits in 28 at bats. Behind the plate, Pener had seven putouts and a 1.000 field percentage.
 
2011: Pener appeared in 30 games, making 27 starts in his first season as a Brave. Because of his play in the field Pener was named Honorable Mention All-KCAC honors. He had 23 hits in 84 at bats for a .274 batting average. Pener scored six runs, had three doubles, three triples, two homeruns, 11 RBI, a slugging percentage of .381, and an on base percentage of .330. He is ranked sixth in the OU record books in runners caught stealing in a single season (10).

Johnson County Community College: Pener was a two year letterwinner for the Cavaliers and was on the Dean’s List all four semesters at JCCC. He played summer ball for Seaboard of the Ban Johnson League in Kansas City, Mo.

High School: At Blue Valley Northwest, he helped the Huskies to a third place finish at the Kansas 6A State Tournament in 2007. Pener led his legion team in homeruns with six.
