High School: Roth was a three year letter winner in baseball for Ottawa High School. He helped lead the Cyclones to a state runner up on the baseball diamond in 2012. Roth was a Lawrence Journal World First Team All-Area selection, earned First Team All-Frontier League honors at pitcher, was a Second Team All-Frontier League selection at second base, and was named KABA Honorable Mention as a utility player and second baseman. He also earned the OHS Cy Young Award.

Roth helped lead his Legion AA team to the state championship game twice in 2010 and in 2011. He was part of Ottawa’s Babe Ruth State Championship team in 2008 and in 2009. Roth earned the Babe Ruth League’s MVP, WOW Award, and Hustle Award.
