2012: For the second straight season Balmer battled through injury. He appeared in 16 games, making 11 starts. Balmer had a .156 batting average with five hits in 32 at bats. He scored six runs, had one double, one triple, five RBI, a slugging percentage of .250, four walks, two hit by pitch, an on base percentage of .275, and two sacrifice hits.
2011: In an injury shortened sophomore season Balmer played in 13 games, making 12 starts. He was 10-for-37 for a .270 batting average. Balmer scored six runs, had two doubles, one homerun, eight RBI, a slugging percentage of .405, an on base percentage of .317, and he was 3-for-4 in stolen base attempts.
2010: Balmer led the team in batting average in his first collegiate season (.394) with 39 hits in 99 at bats. He played in 38 games, starting 30. Balmer scored 29 runs, had eight doubles, two triples, three homeruns, 23 RBI, a slugging percentage of .606, and an on base percentage of .460. He was 2-for-4 in stolen base attempts and had 19 putouts, five assists, and one error for a .960 fielding percentage. On the pitcher’s mound, he had a record of 3-2 with a 7.89 ERA in 21.2 innings pitched. Balmer had 16 strikeouts and opponents had a .333 batting average against him. For his play in the field, Balmer received First Team All-KCAC honors.
High School: Balmer lettered three years in baseball and one in golf for Millennium High School. He was 6-4 with a 3.71 ERA on the mound for the Tigers during his senior season, on his way to a Second Team All-Region selection. In 54.2 innings Balmer struck out 56 batters and walked 11. At the plate, he batted .357 with five home runs, 26 RBI and 21 runs scored.
