2015: As a junior, Wurst played in 9 games and earned Honorable Mention USA All-American and Second Team All-KCAC honors as a defensive lineman. He finished third on the team in tackles with 52 tackles (20 solo, 32 assisted), 9.5 tackles for loss, and three sacks.
2014: Wurst finished his sophomore season with eight tackles, five solo and three assisted.
2013: Wurst finished his freshman season with 54 tackles, 22 solo and 32 assisted. He had 2.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. Wurst had a career high 18 tackles against Tabor College (11/16) and recorded his first career sack versus Bethany College (9/21).
High School: Wurst was a two year letter winner in football for Bishop Lynch High School. He was also a Texas State Powerlifting participant. In 2012 Wurst earned TAPPS Division I/District 2 honors on defense. He was also a TAPPS Division I Second Team selection. As a junior he was a TAPPS Division I/District 2 Honorable Mention selection and was named BLHS Most Improved Defensive Player. Wurst helped lead the Friars to a 2012 TAPPS Division I semifinal and he was selected to the Tom Hillary All-Star Football Classic. He finished his senior season with 77 tackles which was third on the team, five sacks, 12 tackles for loss, one forced fumble, and one pass deflection. In power lifting he was a Texas State Powerlifting regional and state qualifier.
