2015: Lanning was named to the USA Football NAIA Preseason All-American First Team entering the 2015 season. He earned First Team All-KCAC honors at defensive line and was named AFCA NAIA Second Team All-American. Lanning finished the season with 57 tackles (29 solo, 28 assisted) with 9.5 for loss. He had four sacks, one pass break up, one fumble recovery, one forced fumble and he caught a pass for a two point conversion in OU’s first game of the season against Dakota Wesleyan University. He was a Cliff Harris Small College Football Defensive Player of the Year Nominee.
2014: In his redshirt sophomore season, Lanning earned First Team All-KCAC honors at defensive line. He had 55 tackles (18 solo, 37 assisted), with 8.5 for loss.
2013: Lanning took a medical redshirt in his sophomore season.
2012: Lanning earned Honorable Mention All-KCAC in his first collegiate season. He finished the season with 29 tackles, 15 solo and 14 assisted. Lanning had 3.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, and one pass breakup.
High School: Lanning earned four letters in football and wrestling for McPherson High School. On the football field, he was named a First Team All-AVCTL defensive lineman in 2010 and in 2011, earned First Team All-AVCTL honors in 2011 as an offensive lineman, and was named to the KFCA 5A All-State Team in 2011. In wrestling, Lanning earned All-AVCTL honors and was a three-time state qualifier. He finished fifth in 2010 in the 185 pound weight class and in 2012, Lanning finished second at state in the 285 pound weight class.
Personal: Son of Brian and Mindy Lanning ... born December 16, 1993 ... business administration and accounting major. His sister Addie Lanning is a member of the OU women’s wrestling team.
